They make great gifts! Handmade gifts are the best!
You can read about how to make your own t-shirt yarn in an earlier blog post of mine.
It’s a great way to recycle old shirts and turn them into something fabulous!
For this project I wanted to try out some t-shirt yarn I had saved for a rainy day. It’s a great alternative to making your own t-shirt yarn.
No craft stores near you and no old t-shirts? You can find more t-shirt yarns available on Amazon right here. {I will make a small percentage if you use the Amazon links in my post, but it won’t cost you more…thanks!}
I’m not an expert at all, so I’ll just explain it like I would if you were sitting next to me having a cup of coffee and crocheting. {That sounds nice!}
Gather a couple things…
- T-shirt yarn {handmade by you or from the store}
- Size P-15 crochet hook
- scissors
Start by making a chain…
- Chain 3
- Slip stitch into the first chain you made to create a ring. {photo 1 & 2}
- Chain 1
- Single crochet 8 into the center of the ring.
- Chain 1
- Single crochet in each stitch – You’ll single crochet 16 for the round. {photo 3}
- Chain 1
- Single crochet in the next stitch, single crochet 2 times in the next stitch and repeat the pattern for this row. You’ll single crochet a total of 24 for this row. {photo 4}
This pattern creates a basket super fast!
- Chain 1
- Single crochet around for two rows and it will look like the photo above.
- Single crochet around for two more rows {4 total} and it will look like this photo.
- Slip stitch into the next stitch.
- Trim away the extra yarn and you’re done.
I think it makes the cutest little crochet basket ever…if I do say so myself!
Make a bunch…I’m really loving it in grey!
