DIY Wool Dryer Balls

These DIY Wool Dryer Balls are an awesome project that’s quick and easy! That works for me!

How to Make Wool Dryer Balls

Supplies:

Wool yarn
Knee high pantyhose
Essential Oils
Crochet hook

Start with beautiful 100% wool yarn. You will be able to make 2-3 out of most yarn skeins.

This is Patons Classic Wool Roving in Aran and Yellow. The colorful mixed skein is Patons ColorWul in Countryside.

Start by wrapping the yarn around a couple fingers 6 or 7 times. Then switch directions and wrap some more.

Keep wrapping and turning and it will start to take shape. You can really take your time and make your pattern even, but I go with the fast method…lol! Wrap until your yarn ball is almost the size of a tennis ball.

Then take the end of your yarn and pull it through the ball with a crochet hook.

Slip it inside the pantyhose and tie a knot.

Wash it in hot water and dry it 3-4 times. This will give you a nice felt look and feel.

Cut away the pantyhose and you’re finished.

Before you use it for the first time you’ll want to add 6 drops of quality essential oils. Quality oil is much stronger, so you use less.

They look pretty cool, don’t they?

How to Use Wool Dryer Balls

Simply add a few to your dryer along with your load of wet laundry…turn it on and walk away. Your house will start to smell amazing due to the essential oils you added to the dryer ball and your laundry will smell super fresh. They bounce around in there and do all the work for you.

Since the wool dryer balls are bouncing around in there separating the laundry, it reduces the amount of time it takes to dry…saving you money.

Reuse them over and over again.

More All-Natural Laundry Tips

Years ago we were trying to find an all-natural laundry detergent to help with an allergy situation. We found soap nuts! Soap Nuts are dried soapberries. They clean like crazy without the chemicals! Soap Nuts contains saponins for a natural cleaning alternative. They smell fresh and even bubble up! {You can also make a soap mixture with these to clean around the house!}

I add 6-8 berries to a small drawstring bag and toss them in the washer. You can reuse the same bag 5-6 times! Try them…you’ll love them!

I loved them from the start and I’ve even checked into having my own tree! But, they’re super slow growing so I decided to just keep buying them.
