On a recent trip to Asheville, North Carolina we explored a little of the beautiful River Arts District. You can visit working artist studios…sounds like something I would like, doesn’t it? Well, I loved it!
Stunning sunflowers outside Sassafrass Studio got my attention right away and I had to make it my first stop. I can’t get over how beautiful the sunflowers look up against this old brick building.
I was given a tour of all the beautiful pottery in progress around the studio. Extremely talented people work in this area…just sayin’!
I will confess right here and say I know very little about pottery, but it doesn’t change my love and appreciation of its beauty. Handcrafted from clay…amazing!
Here are a few photos I took in the entrance to the studio…
It was all so beautiful I had to share this fabulous little spot of creative wonder in Asheville’s River Arts District.
If you’re in the area, don’t miss Sassafrass Studio!
I could have stayed all day but when it takes me forever to make it through each studio {and I take a million photos when allowed} my children were giving me sad eyes and we had to move on to something more exciting for them! 🙂
Have you visited Asheville lately? I love how artsy it is and I have to fight my thoughts of packing up and moving there just to live near all those creative people.
Do you have a creative area like this where you live? I’d love to hear about it!

Wow, I love the photos — such amazing designs. 🙂 Where I live, there is a district downtown-ish that houses all sorts of galleries and whatnot. I love it, and I have memories of my dad taking me there as a kid. I was stunned by the beauty!

I’ve never been to Asheville, but I’ve heard AMAZING things about the talented people who live in the area. I would LOVE to visit sometime though! Looks like an amazing trip and I’m sure this was just one of the many awesome shops you visited.

Beautiful pottery – I’d be broke from trying to buy it all. Napa has some good artsy places to go, but Open Studios and Sonoma’s Art Trails are the most fun (local studios open their doors).

Oh, sounds wonderful Carol! It’s been awhile since I’ve visited the Sonoma area!

I went with my hubby to do a professional firework show for the grandmother of the owners of Grove Park Inn. It was her birthday. The company put us up in the Holiday Inn in downtown. While he worked I walked to look at the shops, and there just happened to be a festival going on so I got to see lots of crafts. This was about 3 or 4 years ago. That’s all I visited.
